Youth Engagement

Y-Farm is maiden collaboration among five main youth groups in the region, these groups work for youth farm issues along with other development related aspects. Therefore, Y-Farm would like to connect all the groups to work together on themes of education, hydropower, water governance and climate change. Moreover, Y-Farm plans to organize the youth volunteering program in the region, to connect individuals with other organizations, groups and communities as volunteers or interns.

Teaching Farm

Teaching Farm is different in every country of the Mekong Region. Our farms differ from our partners due to difference in perspectives, strategies and sizes, but our common goal to bring young students to our farm, exchange learning and best practices with them, keep us intact and motivated. We also offer spaces for students on the farm, to conduct pilot tests/projects, related to their interest and studies. It facilitates working and learning among youth, local community and academic professional in association with local government officers.

Organic Farm

Organic farm has a good potential for development in the Mekong Region, as individual preferences are changing towards using an organic product over regular ones, to be more healthy and wise. Some farmers and social enterprises have initiated developing an organic farm and most of them are successful. In order to spread awareness among the customers who’ve not adapted the organic products/ processes, Y-Farm would like to connect many organic farms in order to exchange and work together in order to strengthen the community.

Youth Farmers and Community Farm

Youth turning into farmers is very rare in the Mekong Region, because most of the countries in the region follow capitalist economic patterns, where youth prefers to work in factories, migrate to big cities and turn into city dwellers as modern people instead of farmers in the rural areas.  But, there are a few students who still emphasize on farming and agriculture, these students return home after completing their University education in Thailand, and become farmers. Y-Farm aims at gathering such youth which prefer to become farmers and run the farms in their hometown, and make them opinion leaders to make others learn from them.
